Cycling Clothes and Camel Toes!

This is not an ordinary blog post for me. Seeing as yesterday I decided to go the regular blog post route instead of just route information posts there is no stopping me.

Today for the first time I wore a women’s pair of cycling shorts. As I live in Japan and the women here are smaller than a flea on a diet I have always bought cheapo ones from amazon in a men’s large or extra-large depending on the country they are from. If they are from a western country I buy them a size smaller than if they are from an asian country. The same goes for the shirts. I can barely fit the women’s ones over my arm, let alone my stupid-for-cycling breasts ….seriously, every time I am in the speedy position I am kneeing myself in the boobs.

Anyway, while I was in the uk I bought a woman’s pair of shorts and decided today is they day I try them out. I pulled them on and they fit beautifully, then I looked in the mirror. HOLY F***, what is that?!
I know with my short hair I look like a bloke at times, a cute one though šŸ˜‰ but seriously I don’t mind. I do mind having shorts that really emphasis I am actually a woman.

Hmm, maybe if I put a pair of regular shorts over them?

No. Seriously!! I was laughing so much I had to spread the situation so I messaged a friend and my sister and basically got the same response from both of them.

So, is there a difference between men’s and women’s cycling clothes. Apparently there is, but I was quite happy with the men’s. There are more choices, less pink, and definitely less toe.

Here are a couple of links with a discussion and information on the subject.

Did I wear them in the end?…yes, but I never got off my bike. I certainly won’t be wearing them on days where I get off my bike at some point to shop or wander. But for jaunts they are ok and quite comfy, they don’t ride up where you think they do.

Well, at least my new shirt is great!

I know Giant have changed partners, but I prefer the older Giant/Shimano to Giant/Alpecin. Bike and gear manufacturers as opposed to bike and shampoo people.
